We have recently developed a new range of floorboard bespoke finishes: Our luxurious ARTISAN range. There are 5 colours to choose from and each board has been reversed and double wire brushed before sanding and finishing. We aim to have ref pictures online within 2 weeks.

If you have a found a wood floor designer finish that you’re fond of from another wood flooring company, why not give us a try and we’ll directly copy that sample and even aim to further improve the sample depending on your exact requirements. Only this way will you have a truly bespoke floor and not a mass produced product.

We continually stock solid and Engineered boards, so our turn around can be within 7 days.

220mm Engineered Oak Discount / Rustic / Natural / Distressed

A quick post just to say that we are importing 500m2 of 220mm wide engineered European oak boards next week. We are offering 15% discount on all 220 engineered finishes, that includes driftwoods and our antique ranges up until Feb 2nd only.

These engineered oak boards are 21mm thick and in long lengths up to 2.8m long (average 2m+). The base is made from Boiled tested birch ply which is essential for extra stability in extreme conditions ie with all underfloor heating systems. Our current UK market is flooded with cheap imported engineered boards from China which does not match the spec and quality of these European oak engineered floorboards. Often these sub standard boards are constructed with plywoods that are made of weaker softwood layers, or a mix of hardwood and softwood layers which is no better.

Make sure you inspect the plywood base and the solid oak top layer before purchasing.

It’s a sad time.

As of Jan 12th 2012 Victorian Woodworks in London went into administration. Victorian Woodworks was the UK hub for reclaimed timber flooring, their stock piles were immense and truly varied. Where we have found a new market for reclaimed and replica reclaimed flooring, Victorian Woodworks specifically and adventurously dealt with top grade reclaimed timbers from all over the world. As of this moment we’re unsure of the future ownership of these stockpiles but we are in the loop and will keep our readers up to date.

Old Lodge / New vintage Pre-Finished & natural / Promo until March

You will not find this finish in London or anywhere else because we are the only company in the UK or even the world who has created such a unique finish. Simply, this is because after months and months of experimenting with secret organic mixtures and combinations we have created OLD LODGE. Our bespoke processes are not simply a case of colouring and staining- we would rather quit and work in a bank. Rather, we combine natural compounds that react with the acid within the oak and as a result the oak itself changes colour. Take a close look at the colour variations in the grain patterns of our Old Lodge and you will see that this would be impossible to create with the use of flat staining and coloured oils. We are indeed master craftsmen and very proud of our creations.

To celebrate the launch of of latest bespoke finish, we will be discounting OLD LODGE by 10% on all solid oak sales up until Feb 31st. This finish was created Jan 15th and it is a result of many many experiments involving secret combinations of our very own organic compound mixtures. You will not find this finish anywhere else because nobody knows how to create it and we doubt they ever will.

Old lodge represents a nice balance between a classic old oak floor and a sharper looking new oak floor. The pictures below show the boards without any further distressing markings, they will cost extra.

These huge pitch pine and douglas fir timbers have been selected specifically for each particular job- the result is a made to measure floorboard. Boards of this size with few board joints will create an ambience of calm tranquility, where as smaller and thinner boards with many joints will become busy and portray a ‘noisy’ ambience. Whether you chose wide plank or narrow boards, this simple finishing process with lye or similarly white oil will create an inviting, light floor. We’re a big fan of Dinesen at RFC, we just can’t get timbers quite so long or wide!
