“Who leaves the pine-tree, leaves his friend, unnerves his strength, invites his end.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Re-Sawn boards are not for everybody. If you are looking for a softwood in its most natural state, complete with old fashioned saw-markings, antique dings and a original surface patina then these boards are a suitable option. The trick here is that these deservedly rich planks are actually re-sawn, only we carefully machine the outside of the beam and so maintain the original, oxidized face. Some of these ancient beams are over 150 yrs old, by supplying these unique boards in such a way, we are producing an antique piece of British flooring, not too dissimilar to our more expensive genuine oak planks. Slow grown Yellow pine and slow grown Douglas Fir are far superior to the common pines of today, these ancient pines should never be considered to be in the same league.
