Our Story

The Reclaimed Flooring Company is a boutique wood flooring business with a mission. A mission to keep wood, just like wood. A mission to create and supply newly hand-made, reclaimed and natural wood flooring that is timelessly beautiful, durable, environmentally friendly and full of raw character.

We exhibit and sell our flooring internationally from home. Home is Greater Manchester, birthplace of the Victorian industrial revolution, England. Where immense cotton mills once exported their products throughout the world, and homes were built in their thousands for workers and their families. Today, these historic mills and houses are slowly making way for business parks and luxury apartments. Renovation and demolition projects have become an increasing addition to the Manchester city skyline, old building materials such as Victorian timbers, beams and floorboards have become a fortunate corollary for the local reclamation industry.

From small beginnings and an eco-epiphany in 2005, The Reclaimed Flooring Company was born, with the aim of saving these precious antique timbers from Manchester's old buildings from going into landfill. A fascination with old and unique timber surfaces as solid wood flooring would become the company's backbone and culture.

Collectively company founders Robert J Henry and Thomas M Henry studied interior design and graphic design, graduating from the prestigious Manchester Metropolitan University with BaHons. They have previously worked at restoring antique wooden floors throughout London, managed apartment development and renovation projects, as well as being completely hands on at the front end of the timber reclamation business. Since 2005 Rob, Tom and the team have sweat and their fingers have bled, together they know their products with absolute certainty and their dedication for excellence and surface innovation is absolute.

Naturally progressing from reclaimed timber flooring, tailor-made oak flooring and carefully selected imported, pre-finished wide floorboards are now produced. Old becomes new as reclaimed patinas are replicated and fused with more contemporary design ideas.

Company pride is everything natural. New real-wood floors look like they came from a tree - unlike more commonplace shiny, over manufactured floorboards often sold by big DIY stores, international online stores and familiar shops who only import their wood flooring from China. The Reclaimed Flooring Company has slowly become recognised as pioneers for natural and organic-looking wood floor patinas and tailor-made finishes that look and feel as good as the raw timber itself. This is what makes their wood flooring so recognisable and distinctly beautiful.
