About this project
One of our favourite little and very local projects recently was this Clerkenwell Penthouse apartment. The brief was to create an antique looking wooden floor, with character to contrast against the modern interior and well defined edges.
We decided that our castle platform was the perfect choice in engineered oak for two reasons: 1. There was underfloor heating throughout the property. 2. Wide boards were specified up to 280mm, we would not have felt comfortable suppling a solid oak floor for widths of this size over an underfloor heating system.
Combined with the 280mm wide boards, we also blended in nicely 240mm and 185mm boards to add that extra level of depth and antique authenticity.
