About this project
This solid oak floor was created with similar oak planks to those in our Castle range, only with less undulation on the surface. While our Castle range of oak flooring exhibits a wavy board surface popular in period properties of over 150 years old, these floorboards are more contemporary. While not being 100% flat, the surface has an estimated 10-20% undulation to the surface, especially around the knots.
For this style of floor we recommend fitting mixed width planks, eg 180,200,220mm wide. Adding an extra visual dimension to the overall floor in such a way breaks up the repetitive, linear pattern while creating a sense of history akin to Georgian wood floors.
Our ‘New Orleans’ patina is one of our most popular antique brown tones due to it’s subtle colour variation and soft, warm brown hues. For Ape and Bird, we darkened these tones slightly without losing the depth of colour, which is what usually occurs when commercial floor stains are used to colour wood.
