About this project

In this Fairmead Road home, Charles Tashima Architecture has added a large kitchen extension, creating a glorious, light-filled space that opens up to the garden. The resulting design feels airy and bright and will stand the test of time, both in look and materials.

With the demand for light-filled contemporary homes continuing across the capital, this extension intended to provide a sense of space and make the indoor and outdoor areas better connected—maximising the potential of what was once a dark, tightly constrained living room with very little natural daylight.

The Reclaimed Flooring Company supplied our Eames timber floorboards in a light brown tone to add to the warmth and sophisticated feel of the design whilst simultaneously softening the harsh lines that connect the space with the rest of the house.
